Man charged with murder in court over fatal stabbing

A man charged with murder after a 37-year-old was stabbed to death and another man was seriously injured in Brighton has appeared in court.

Tio Day, 37, was fatally stabbed in a property in Regency Square on Sunday. A second man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with stab wounds, Sussex Police said.

Daniel Bassett, of no fixed address, appeared before Brighton Magistrates' Court charged with murder and attempted murder.

Bail was refused and the case was sent to Lewes Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday.
