Man charged with murder after fatal stabbing

A man has been charged with murder after a 37-year-old was stabbed to death and another man was seriously injured in Brighton.

Tio Day, 37, was fatally stabbed in a property in Regency Square at about 02:10 BST on Sunday.

A second man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with stab wounds, Sussex Police said.

Daniel Bassett, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been charged with murder and attempted murder.

Bassett, 26, has been remanded to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

Brighton and Hove Ch Supt Adam Hays said: "Our thoughts are with Tio's family and friends at this very difficult time.

"Tragic incidents like this have significant consequences. Lives are lost or changed forever, families are left grieving, and entire communities are affected."
