Rail lines reopen after emergency incident

Rail passengers in the West Midlands faced disruption after an emergency incident blocked railway lines.

National Rail said emergency services were called to an incident between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton at about 07:35 BST on Friday.

In an update at 13:00, a spokesperson said all lines had since reopened and trains were now running as normal.

Trains running between the two stations earlier were cancelled and delayed by up to 90 minutes, with some rail replacement buses in operation.

Transport for Wales services between Llandudno Junction, Crewe and Birmingham International were affected, as well as West Midlands Railway services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street.
