Three injured after targeted firearms incident
George King/BBCOne person has been arrested after three people were injured during a targeted firearms incident, police said.
Essex Police was called to an incident in Market Place, Braintree, at about 22:10 BST on Monday.
Three people were taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life -threatening injuries, Essex Police said.
A part of Rayne Road in the town, between Francis Road and George Road, has been closed in connection with the incident, the force added.
Det Insp Richard Trower said: "At this stage we believe all those involved in this incident know each other."
He said the force believed the incident involved two groups and there was no wider or ongoing risk to the public.
"Four men or boys aged in their mid-teens to mid-20s were seen leaving the area and work to identify and locate those involved is ongoing," he added.
He said there would be a large police presence in the town centre throughout Tuesday morning.
