Robbery charges after man's death are dropped

The case against two men charged with robbery after a man died in a seaside town has been dropped.

Norfolk Police said the victim of the alleged robbery, which happened on Blackfriars Road, Great Yarmouth, at about 04:00 GMT on Sunday 11 January, died after he was taken to hospital on Tuesday 13 January.

Angelo Pereira, 27, of Nelson Road Central, Great Yarmouth, and Osvaldo Semedo, also known as Miguel, 27, of King Street, Great Yarmouth, were both charged with robbery.

The case was discontinued on 16 February.

In January, Norfolk Police had said a Home Office post-mortem examination had revealed the cause of the man's death was inconclusive and further tests were needed.

Providing an update on Thursday, a spokesperson said investigators were awaiting "the full results back for the cause of death" before "considering any further charges".
