'I'm not living in a rubbish dump'

Roger Shipley says he loves looking after his local area.

He has lived in the same house in Scunthorpe since it was built in 1963 and has enormous pride for his community and the people who live there.

To support his neighbours, he spends hours picking up litter and keeping the area surrounding his street tidy.

Roger is a finalist in the BBC Radio Humberside Make a Difference Awards 2026 in the Great Neighbour category.
