Racecourse padel court plans set for approval

Lewes District Council's planning committee will examine plans for the five-court, enclosed facility for the fast-growing racquet sport on Wednesday.
Planning officers recommended the application, from Hurstwood Sports Group, for approval on part of the racecourse site used as a driver training centre.
The council received 25 objections to the plans and 35 letters of support, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
In planning documents, the applicant said the scheme "would deliver sporting, recreational, community and economic benefits".
Objectors raised concerns including noise levels, traffic problems and the visual impact of the project.
The applicant said the concerns could be "satisfactorily mitigated and controlled through planning conditions".
