'Extensive' oil spill causes delays on M1 northbound

Two lanes on the northbound M1 were closed as emergency services dealt with an "extensive oil spillage".

The incident - between junction 14 for Milton Keynes and junction 15 for Northampton - caused up to four miles of congestion on Thursday, according to National Highways.

Recovery services at the scene assessed the damage, and National Highways has now said that all resurfacing work has been completed.

The spokesperson also said there are no residual delays on the approach.
