Sark launches community engagement initiative

Sark has launched a new community engagement initiative to mark the "start of a structured process" gathering islanders' views about its future, Chief Pleas has said.

The Future Sark initiative aims to release a new question each week for four weeks to give islanders their say via drop boxes across the island, by email or WhatsApp.

Chief Pleas said the initiative would establish a "broad and inclusive conversation about what matters most to the community" - including what should be sustained, where could be improved and its response to future challenges.

Conseiller Natalie Tighe said the engagement phase was "an important first step" to understanding Sark's future priorities.

She said: "We want all islanders to have their say, whether that's about what makes Sark special, what improvements they would like to see, or what they miss most when they travel away from the island.

"By getting involved early, islanders can make the case for what they would like to focus on and help set the agenda for the workshops that will run in June."

Chief Pleas said answers would help shape workshops in early June and an island-wide survey "shortly after".

It added all responses would inform a Future Sark framework.
