Driver arrested after man injured in collision

The collision happened in the Aldi car park on Halifax Road in Brighouse, police say

A 78-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the Aldi car park on Halifax Road in Brighouse at about 12:55 BST on Thursday and the man, a pedestrian, was taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of a Toyota Prius, a 46-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remained in police custody, according to West Yorkshire Police.

Officers asked for any witnesses, or people with relevant footage of the incident, to come forward to assist with their inquiries.
