Man in hospital after serious crash shut A5
BBCA section of the A5 was closed in both directions for several hours following a crash that left a man seriously injured.
The route, which was since reopened, was shut in both directions between the A428 turning for Crick, Northamptonshire, and the A426 junction for Shawell, Leicestershire.
The crash involved a car and a lorry at 08:49 BST on Wednesday at the junction with Newton Lane near Rugby, Warwickshire Police said.
The driver of the car, a man, was found in a serious condition and taken to hospital. The lorry driver was discharged at the scene, the ambulance service said.
All lanes reopened on both carriageways and there were no traffic delays on the approach, National Highways later said.
