Home packs for care leavers going to university

A Warwickshire charity has been assembling "home boxes" to support care leavers preparing to start university in September.

Volunteers at Evelyn's Gift packed essential items alongside Warwickshire County Council children's services staff, creating kits designed to help young people settle in to student accommodation.

"We want them to feel supported as they take this exciting next step in their lives," the charity said.

The kits include items like can openers, pots and pans, tupperware, towels, cutlery and crockery.

A video, posted on Facebook by the charity said the packs will go to every care leaver going to university "so that they can cook, look after themselves and feel supported".

The team is now waiting for A‑level results day to confirm how many care leavers will be heading to university.
