A motorway has fully reopened after a crash that ruptured a lorry's fuel tank.

The closure was in place on the northbound stretch of the M3 near Winchester between junction nine for the A34 and junction eight at Popham and the A303.

National Highways said the lorry struck the central reservation at about 01:00 BST, with about 300 litres of diesel spilling across the carriageway.

The motorway was shut throughout the morning while repairs and resurfacing works were carried out, with traffic diverted. It fully reopened at about midday.
