A man has died in hospital after a fight at a holiday park, police have said.

Officers were called to St Minver Holiday Park, near Wadebridge, Cornwall, at about 20:00 BST on 30 May after a report of what police said was a "physical altercation" involving two men.

The man in his 50s was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital with life-threatening injuries and died there on 1 June. A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it had made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

An IOPC spokesperson confirmed it was investigating "the interactions officers had with the man prior to him becoming unresponsive, and the medical care provided by police".

They added: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the man's family and friends."

The Devon and Cornwall force said it was "fully co-operating with the IOPC regarding this matter".

The arrested man was released on bail until 21 August.
