Police appeal after biker dies in Highlands crash

Police are appealing for information after a biker died in a crash on the A862 near Dingwall in the Highlands.

The crash was reported shortly after 16:00 on Monday and involved a BMW GS1250 motorcycle and a silver Volkswagen Passat.

The 59-year-old male rider was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.

The road near Ardullie was closed while inquiries were carried out and re-opened at about 21:50.

Sgt Neil MacDonald said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

"Our inquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or any of the vehicles prior to contact us."
