Bradford's city centre library is set to move to its new home in mid-November, councillors have been told.

City Library's move from City Park to the ground floor of council-owned Britannia House was announced in late 2024.

The authority is currently paying about £420,000 in rent each year - with the move predicted to save the council a total of £1m.

Work on the ground floor of the Grade II listed Britannia House began earlier this year. The library service said there was "much more space" and flexibility at the new venue.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the large ground floor space in the listed building had, until recently, been used by the council's customer services.

That service has since moved to City Hall.

The move will put the library at the heart of the recently-refurbished city centre.
