More hot weather headaches for summer roadworks scheme
Dumfries and Galloway CouncilA summer roadworks programme across Dumfries has been hit by more delays due to the hot weather.
Resurfacing work on Buccleuch Street in the heart of the town is taking longer than expected for the newly-laid asphalt to cool and cure.
It was due to finish at 17:00 but the road will now stay shut until about 20:00.
The overall work should still be completed on Friday as expected.
The work is part of a wider programme to upgrade the road network across the town throughout the summer.
Previous work on the Edinburgh Road was hit by similar issues.
Dumfries and Galloway Council apologised for any inconvenience caused by the delay to completing the latest resurfacing.
"Please continue to follow signed diversions and allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the area," it added.
