Three men killed in two-vehicle crash

Three men have been killed in a two-vehicle crash.

Hertfordshire Police said it was called to Cory Wright Way, Wheathampstead, at 21:38 BST on Wednesday following a collision between a silver Vauxhall Astra and a grey BMW 840i.

Three men in the Astra, aged in their 30s, 40s and 50s, died at the scene, the force added.

The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, had serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remained on Thursday.

Police said no formal identification of the men had taken place, but their next of kin had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.

Det Con Lewis Stanley said: "I wish to share my condolences with the family and friends of those who lost their lives in last night's collision.

"The circumstances of the collision continue to be investigated and our inquiries are ongoing.

"If you saw what happened and are yet to speak to police, please report it."

He asked for anyone with details, including dashcam footage, to get in touch via email.

Roads that were closed overnight in the area have since reopened, the force confirmed.
