The Royal Cheshire Show is returning for its 188th year.

More than 80,000 people are estimated to visit the agricultural event each year, making it one of the largest gatherings in the county.

The event celebrates the best of Cheshire's countryside and community and showcases the work of those employed in the county's rural economy.

Here is all you need to know about this year's show.

When does it start?

The show opens at 08:00 BST until 22:00 today and from 08:00 until 18:00 tomorrow.

This year's celebration marks a decade since the show was granted Royal status.

How do I get there?

The show is currently held at Clay House Farm on Flittogate Lane, Tabley, in Knutsford.

The show ground is on the A556, approximately 1.5 miles (2.4km) from junction 19 of the M6 for Knutsford.

The nearest railway stations are Plumley Station, Lostock Gralam and Knutsford.

The show ground is an hour walk from Knutsford Station and 20 minutes' drive from Manchester Airport.

Among the classes this year are hundreds of competitions for cattle, sheep and pigs - as well as the largest dairy goat sections in the country.

Other highlights include giant tortoises, a motorcycle display team, the Bolddog FMX, vintage machinery plus food and craft stalls.

Can you bring dogs?

Show organisers have said visitors are welcome to bring their dogs as long as they are kept on a lead and under control.

Owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their dogs, they said.
