Armed police sent out over fake Halloween weapon

Armed police were dispatched after a woman was seen carrying a weapon, which turned out to be a Halloween prop.

Thames Valley Police was called to Bicester Road in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, at about 13:15 BST on Thursday following calls from the public.

However, when officers got there, they found the woman at nearby Friars Square Shopping Centre carrying plastic knives.

The force said: "In the lead-up to Halloween, we would like to remind the public to be mindful when going outside with Halloween accessories that imitate or look like weapons."

Commenters on Facebook claimed to have seen the woman walking in the middle of roads in front of vehicles, before police were called.
