A guide to the Royal Manx's two-day showcase of island farming

A two-day celebration of farming is set to take place in the west of the Isle of Man.

The Royal Manx Agricultural Show is held annually in Patrick.

As well as giving those involved in farming the chance to celebrate their industry, it also offers a window into the sector for those not associated with it.

And while agricultural is at the centre of the event on Friday and Saturday, the show field is laid out to offer much more, with a range of exhibitors, food and drink offerings and family friendly entertainment.

Run by the Royal Manx Agricultural Society, which has roots dating back to 1858, the show is arguably the largest event in the Manx community calendar.

Coming two weeks after the Southern Agricultural Show, it showcases food and farming and attracts tens of thousands of visitors.

The event is held at Knockaloe Farm, in Patrick, on the west of the island.

While the light horse programme starts at 09:00 BST on Friday, the 2026 show will be officially opened to the public by the show president, Lee Cain, at 09:30 on each day with the show field open until 17:30.

Signage will be in place directing people to the event and there is plenty of free parking at the site – with trailer rides to the show field from the car park.

There are also regular bus services running to and from the event via St John's and Peel for those choosing public transport.

Friday sees the start of the light horse programme and dog obedience and agility competitions, and vintage machinery judging.

There will also be carriage driving, and classic car and vintage tractor parades.

Saturday will see the agricultural classes held on the show field, culminating in the Grand Parade in the main ring from 15:45.

Cupcake making, floral art, wicker weaving, and sheep shearing demonstrations will also feature on both days, with live music performances on the bandstand throughout the event.

Top freestyle motocross display team, the Bolddog FMX Team, will also be preforming at the show on both days.

Dog can be taken to the show on both days, but pet owners are asked to keep them on a short lead.

Organisers say the event is "at its heart, a celebration of Manx agriculture".

"You'll have the opportunity to see some of the finest cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry and other livestock from across the island, all competing for the Deemster Johnson Supreme Championship Award," they said.

"It's a unique chance to meet local farmers, learn more about Manx agriculture and get up close with the animals that make the show so special."
