Four arrested after cannabis plants worth at least £1.3m discovered

Four men have been charged after cannabis plants with a street value of at least £1.3m were discovered in the Scottish Borders.

More than 1,600 plants were discovered after police carried out a search of premises in Dovecote Street, Hawick, at about 13:40 on Thursday.

The men, aged 45, 42, 41 and 35, were reported to the procurator fiscal and appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.

Ch Insp David Rourke said: "This was a significant recovery which demonstrates our continued commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy."
