Community diagnostic centre to open this autumn
Stephen BriggsA city's new community diagnostic centre is set to open in the autumn.
Construction of the new facility on Wellington Street in Eastgate, Peterborough, began last August.
The NHS unit will offer patients a range of scans, including CT, MRI, DEXA, X-ray, and ultrasound, in an attempt to get them diagnosed more quickly.
Charlotte Williams, deputy chief executive of the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Offering diagnostic services in the community very much aligns with our strategy."
These will include cardiology and respiratory diagnostic services, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The centre will be run by staff from the NHS trust, which already runs Peterborough City Hospital.
Williams added it should also help reduce patient waiting times for clinical investigations.
