Tribute to father killed in suspected rival biker gang violence
South Wales PoliceThe family of a man who died after violence broke out in a village have said he will be "loved and missed more than words can ever express".
Anthony "Tony" Jones, 56, from Brecon died from his injuries following an incident to which Gwent Police firearms officers were called in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, on 7 August.
Multiple arrests have been made and a murder investigation has been launched.
His family said he was a "much-loved husband and devoted dad", adding that "the hole he has left in our family is impossible to put into words".
Gwent Police said it believed two rival motorcycle clubs were involved in the violent disorder that led to Jones' death
Det Supt Laura Bartley said investigators believed it involved members of two rival Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs, the Vikings and the Hells Angels.
"Establishing the extent of involvement of those connected to the incident remains a key focus of the investigation," adding the investigation was "progressing at pace".
His family said he would "be loved and missed more than words can ever express".
"To us, he wasn't a name in a news story - he was our Anthony.
"He was incredibly hardworking and always made sure his family was provided for.
"[His wife] Sarah and the children were at the centre of his world and he absolutely doted on them.
"He was immensely proud of his children and loved them beyond measure."
They added that he was also "a much-loved grandfather, affectionately known to his grandchildren as 'Grumpy'".
"He adored his grandchildren and was incredibly proud of them.
"Being their Grumpy was another very special part of the family life he loved so much."
They said they had many happy memories of days out together, and added that some of their most treasured memories were "the simplest ones - at home, music playing, laughing and dancing together during one of our many kitchen discos".
"Our lives have changed forever. Sarah has lost her husband and the children have lost their dad, and they are trying to comprehend a future they never imagined having to face," the tribute said.
