Children's hospital entrance to shut overnight
NHS Humber Health PartnershipA children's hospital is to lock its doors overnight after incidents of people sleeping in the building or trying to get into wards and clinical units.
Hull Women and Children's Hospital will restrict access between 21:00 and 07:00 from 7 September.
Entry will be available via a buzzer system with a red telephone in the foyer allowing patients to call for emergency help, Humber Health Partnership said.
Parents with children in the neonatal unit will still have 24 hour access via a fingerprint scanner, the trust added.
In March, the main entrance at Hull Royal Infirmary began to be locked overnight due to safety concerns.
Tess Dunning, head of midwifery, said the new security system matched access to other parts of the hospital.
"We've had incidents in the past where staff coming to work have found people sleeping in areas of the hospital or wandering around the corridors," she said.
"So we're taking this additional level of security to protect our staff, and the people and families in our care."
