Minute's applause for lifelong Coventry City fan

A minute's applause is to be held at Coventry City's match against Hull City in memory of 27-year-old Harry Chattaway, who died suddenly.

The applause has been organised by Harry's friend, Ryan Jones, who said he is "heartbroken" that Harry will never get to see the Sky Blues in the Premier League, as the club returns to the top-flight this season after 25 years away.

Jones has encouraged supporters to join in with the applause in the 27th minute of the match on Saturday.

"Harry was a massive Coventry City fan, a season ticket holder, and I think this would be the best send-off he could probably have," Jones added.

Faye Chattaway, Harry's sister, told BBC CWR that Harry worked at a supermarket on the night shift and "only worked so he could afford to buy Coventry City things".

"His whole life was Cov and he had been going to matches since he was eight", she added.

Harry, from Allesley, died earlier this month. Jones hopes that the applause on Saturday will spread awareness of his friend's life.

"To have something like 32,000 people clap for Harry, and maybe even all of the fans in the stadium, will be remarkable to hear," Jones said.

He added: "He was a fantastic lad and I would be amazed and grateful if people joined in on Saturday".
