A man has been charged after a 16-year-old cyclist died following a collision in Birmingham.

The teenager was found with serious injuries on Friday close to the junction of Cattell Road and Templefield Street in the Small Heath area, near Birmingham City's stadium.

He was taken to hospital but died on Saturday, West Midlands Police said.

Clyde Carey, 47, appeared earlier before city magistrates charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene and causing death while uninsured, the force said.

Officers said they were continuing to support the victim's family and were keen to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
