A man died after two vehicles collided at the back of a rolling police road block that had been put in place because of debris on a motorway.

Traffic was slowed on the M5 between Taunton and Bridgwater in Somerset on Tuesday at around 13.10 BST due to the debris, and the crash happened soon afterwards at the rear of the queue.

The motorway remained closed southbound for several hours and northbound until midnight, allowing specialist officers to collect forensic evidence.

Avon and Somerset Police said the man's family had been informed of his death and officers want to hear from any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage.
