A regional mayor's office is looking for a chief executive with a salary of up to £170,000.

It is to replace interim boss Alan Menzies, who has been in post at the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority (HEYCA) since it was set up in 2025.

The role is to act as the principal strategic adviser to Reform UK's elected mayor Luke Campbell and the executive board, as well as representing the region nationally and across the world.

HEYCA was set up as part of the government's devolution plans and manages public transport and is responsible for job creation and business development.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the authority has said that applicants do not need to come from a traditional local government background or have spent their careers working in town halls.

"We are interested in leaders who have operated successfully within complex, high-profile environments and who understand how to translate strategy into successful delivery," the job advert said.

It adds that the position is a "rare opportunity to shape and build an authority that will dictate the economic direction of the area for generations to come".

Additionally, the role would require a track record of managing massive investment portfolios.

The closing date for applications is 2 November, with interviews taking place a week later.
