Seven arrests after e-scooters stolen in city centre

Seven people have been arrested after two e-scooter riders were robbed in Nottingham city centre.

Nottinghamshire Police said the two victims were riding through London Road Island at about 21:20 BST on Monday when they were approached by a group.

One rider was pushed from his e-scooter before it was stolen, the force added, and after the other resisted, one member of the group "produced a bladed weapon and threatened to stab him".

According to police, three people matching the suspects' description were found in the Angel Row area soon afterwards, and one e-scooter was recovered from a property on Meredith Close in The Meadows, where another four people were arrested.

The force said the second e-scooter was later found in Nottingham Canal.

The seven suspects, aged between 16 and 20, were all arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody while inquiries continue.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article after a machete was allegedly found down his trousers.

Both victims were "shaken but uninjured", police said.

Det Ch Insp Claire Gould said: "We understand the concern incidents such as this can cause and we are working diligently to ensure those involved are held accountable.

"We continue to support the victims and would encourage anyone with information to contact us."
