Two men are to stand trial charged with robbing and killing another man in Aberdeen.

Shaun Lerche, 35, and Scott Adams, 47, allegedly attacked Austin Ironside in Skene Street on 3 August last year.

It is alleged a knife was presented at the 25-year-old before he was restrained. The pair are then accused of striking him on the head with a bottle and robbing him of items including money.

He is said to have been left so severely hurt that he died two days later in hospital. A trial was fixed for next year.

As well as the culpable homicide charge, Lerche separately faces two shoplifting allegations.

The case called for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow where not guilty pleas were entered.

Prosecutor Leanne McQuillian said: "A trial for May 2027 is suitable for the Crown and that is in Glasgow."

Judge Douglas Brown fixed that date for the case, which could last about seven days.
