Multiple crews deal with grass and forest fire

Firefighters have tackled a fire in Nottinghamshire involving approximately 50,000 sq m (12.3 acres) of grass and forest land.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the blaze - which had spread to a nearby solar farm - in Egmanton Road, Meden Vale, at about 16:40 BST on Tuesday.

At its peak eight fire engines, a water carrier and a command support vehicle were at the scene of the fire, with residents told to keep doors and windows closed if they were affected by smoke from the fire.

Firefighting operations stopped at about 19:00, the service said.
