Boy, 6, had 'racist word' written on forehead in park

A six-year-old boy has been allegedly racially assaulted by two older children in a park, police have said.

Lancashire Police said a "racist word had been written on his forehead and arm with a marker pen" at 18:30 BST on Saturday, in Harpers Recreation Ground, Chorley.

The force said it was treating the "racially aggravated assault" in Harpers Lane as a "hate crime".

A spokesperson said that an "investigation has been launched" and "our enquiries are ongoing". Police have appealed for witnesses.
