Bouncers praised after football disorder in city

Two security guards have been praised for their quick thinking and actions to protect customers inside a pub after disorder following a football match.

Videos circulating on social media showed confrontations between fans in Wolverhampton city centre after the city's team beat Stoke City 4-1 at Molineux Stadium on Saturday.

Scores of supporters could be seen marching and chanting along Lichfield Street while officers worked to move the crowd along.

Determined to "shed a positive light on the day", the manager of The Goose pub, located near the scene, shared a photo of their bouncers on Facebook.

"Massive thank you to these two, who had the doors locked and everybody inside safe within seconds of it starting on the street," they wrote.

"Wolverhampton isn't a bad place to go, in fact we have some incredible bars and venues up here and guys like Ausama and Marva do an amazing job in keeping you all safe."

West Midlands Police confirmed an investigation had been launched, and while no injuries were reported, officers have been reviewing video footage.
