What have been the big stories in the West this week?

A man living in Weston-super-Mare woke up to discover a raging fire at Clarence Bowling Club. Craig Newton posted a dramatic picture on social media showing flames leaping high into the air.

A fridge-freezer was spotted having been dumped into the River Avon in Bath. There was speculation online as to whether it was the same unit which had been seen two months ago, "several hundred yards upstream and stuck in undergrowth".

A milkman from Cinderford is celebrating 50 years of service to the local community. Chris Jenkins, a "beloved" delivery man, started his career aged 11 with a Saturday job for Parkdene Dairy in August 1976.

Swindon Borough Council has urged people not to feed pigeons in the town centre after a large quantity of bird seed was left lying on a pavement in Regent Street. The council said feeding the birds led to "increased bird fouling and rats".

And despite the recent heatwave, a Christmas chocolate display has been spied in a store in Chippenham - although there are still 131 days to go until 25 December.
