Former PC charged with harassment and stalking
Getty ImagesA former police officer has been charged with harassment and stalking offences over alleged messages containing "fabricated and fictitious complaints".
Jack Wood, 32, previously a constable with Avon and Somerset Police in Bristol, is accused of sending emails and social media messages to police and public community figures which made false complaints about policing and crime levels in the city, as well as false allegations about his former colleagues.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between October 2024 and October 2025.
Wood will appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Following an investigation by Avon and Somerset Police's Professional Standards Department, Wood was charged with harassment without violence, stalking without fear, alarm or distress, and causing wasteful employment of police's time.
Dep Ch Con Jon Reilly said: "We know the fact a former officer has been charged with serious offences will be of grave concern to the public.
"I want to stress the overwhelming majority of our officers, staff and volunteers care deeply about the communities they serve and are committed to keeping people safe.
"We are providing support to affected members of staff and will be providing them with updates as the case progresses."
