Stoke City

After seeing a seven-match losing streak dating back to April end, Stoke head coach Mark Robins told Sky Sports: "Lazy people look at results last season - when people come at you for that it's less than ideal. This is a new team.

"We have actually played ok in the games we have lost, apart from Swansea - we just got punished for making mistakes.

"I'm really happy for everyone we have got a result, it was really important, no matter how we got it - we scored a really good goal to be fair and we defended well.

"We're in a moment when we'll take whatever we can get - the players worked really hard for it and the supporters helped get us over the line.

"It's great for the new players to see the support.

"We are going to be a decent side but we have had to pretty much start again. Tonight on deadline day we might be losing one of our players who has been a big impact on what we have done over the past 12 months (Sorba Thomas)."

• Swansea leapfrog Charlton - who play on Wednesday - and move top of the Championship with an accomplished 2-0 victory at home to previously unbeaten Watford.
• Bristol City score two late goals in a 3-1 win at Preston to make it back-to-back victories and bolster their position in the play-off places.
• West Ham secure a first Championship win of the season, getting the better of a six-goal thriller at home to Wolves.
• Sheffield United's Romelle Donovan breaks Bolton Wanderers' hearts with a stoppage-time winner in a rollercoaster 3-2 win at Bramall Lane.
• Stoke get their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Norwich and there are no goals in Lincoln v 10-man Blackburn.
• And Birmingham City come from a goal down to claim a point at home to Southampton.

Norwich City

Norwich head coach Philippe Clement told Sky Sports: "Frustrating is the word.

"It was one team dominating the game, having the chances, the possession - all the things you want to win games - and that team lost.

"It's a hard one to accept."

He added: "If you have 15 shots in an away game but sometimes the goalkeeper maybe has the best game of his season, those things happen.

"He played a really good game, and a few times had a bit of luck. I didn't see too many bad finishes. It was just one body or leg in-between.

"We have to take the disappointment as a fuel for the next match."

Thomas looks set to join Premier League Hull City but time is running out for them to get the deal done...

The transfer window closes in less than one hour and Championship teams have not let something as silly as games of actual football get in the way of them getting business done.

At 22:00 BST three of them announced new additions.

Millwall have brought in Stevenage goalkeeper Filip Marschall, Portsmouth have signed Brentford forward Jayden Meghoma and Lincoln City have added Verona right-back Daniel Oyegoke.

Stoke City

Stoke match-winner Ethan Galbraith told Sky Sports: "The first couple of games didn't start the way we wanted but we've got three points on the board and hopefully we can build from it."

On player of the match, keeper Viktor Johansson, who made a string of saves to keep his sheet clean, Galbraith added: "He was unbelievable."

VERY early days of course but things looking quite peachy for Swansea fans at the moment.

Their 2-0 win over Watford tonight means the Swans end the day top of the pile, albeit Charlton could knock them off their perch* tomorrow if they beat West Brom.

Down at the other end Preston have played four and lost four after a 3-1 home reverse by Bristol City as the pressure on boss Paul Heckingbottom grows.

*I can't imagine swans actually sit on perches do they? Would need to be massive.

We get a draw at 1-1 it's not a bad result, but we had control. Flynn Downes will be disappointed with the Birmingham goal and how Finn Azaz loses the ball. It was poor defending from Downes, who did have a good game, but I felt we lost the two points.

There was some tired legs out there and I don't think we created too many chances in the second half.

Blues had the better chances in the first half, Jay Stansfield hitting the post and missing a sitter, but Kevin Schlotterbeck's flashing header on the stroke of half-time put the Saints ahead.

August Priske's header from Patrick Roberts' cross drew Blues level and though Cyle Larin spurned a good chance and Kuryu Matsuki saw a volley disallowed for the visitors, no further goals were possible.

All over.

Stoke have points on the board for the first time at the fourth attempt, and a clean sheet to boot.

Ethan Galbraith's first-half pea-roller into the bottom corner, which took a slight deflection past Vlad Kovacevic, proves the difference, though Viktor Johansson needed to make a string of saves to keep the Canaries at bay, thwarting Andre Brookes more than once.

Four games, four defeats for Preston so far in the Championship.

Not for the first time tonight this is a crucial touch from Ruari McConville as the Norwich defender somehow gets on the end of Bae Junho's low ball into the box from the left, just ahead of Robert Bozenik.

This win puts a better angle to what comes up in the next game against Derby County. West Ham know they can definitely score goals in this league.

In the end they deserved the win, but Wolves are not going to lose many games.

Jordan James is a very good player, we saw that at Leicester, and you've got Tommy Doyle as well so that shows what they've got.

The one thing West Ham have to learn is to move the ball quicker and be positive.
