Mukasa scored his first goals for West Ham
West Ham secured a first Championship win of the season by beating Wolves 4-2 at the London Stadium.
Divine Mukasa's wonder strike and Jarrod Bowen's penalty put the Hammers in control, only for Marshall Monetsi to make it 2-1 before half-time.
Mukasa's second and a Konstantinos Mavropanos close-range finish all but secured the win, before an own goal by the Greek defender rounded off the evening.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side move up to 11th, while his old club are third - two points behind second-placed Charlton.
After a slow start for both sides, Raul Jimenez struck the bar with a bouncing shot after peeling to the edge of the area and meeting Mateus Mane's corner.
Moments later, Mane himself hit the woodwork, but against the run of play, Manchester City loanee Mukasa fired the home side in front on 33 minutes. He found space on the edge of the area and unleashed a piledriver, which went in off the bar.
Defender Max Kilman and Mukasa both had chances before Bowen rolled in the spot-kick, doubling the lead four minutes before half-time after Joel Piroe was brought down.
Just as the game looked to be pulling away from Wolves, Monetsi halved the deficit with a brilliant run and finish into the corner.
Eight minutes after the break, Mukasa got his second goal to restore the two-goal advantage, but it came with a huge slice of luck. His effort was tame but deflected past Jose Sa off Nasser Djiga's boot.
Mavropanos got in on the act on 64 minutes. After his header from Arne Engels' corner was blocked, he rifled in the rebound from close range.
But again, Wolves refused to lie down. Moments after replacing Jimenez and the defender's goal, Jordan James pressurised Mavropanos, who put Jackson Tchatchoua's low cross into his own net.
The game felt open with every attack, but Nuno's men finally took control to see out a crucial victory against a prospective promotion rival.
'Players need time' - reaction
West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo told BBC Radio London:
"It was a good game and a much-needed win. I'm very happy for our fans.
"The players have been working really hard. We did what was important. It is a totally different squad, the players need time to settle down.
"Some players joined us one week or two weeks ago without a pre-season or any of the ideas we want to implement were not there.
"Now they are chasing and we are trying to help them. I'm positive about what they are doing. Their commitment gives me confidence."
Wolves manager Cesar Peixoto told BBC Radio WM:
"It was not the result we wanted. It was unfair, because we created a lot of chances and West Ham scored, we didn't.
"We stayed competitive until the end. I liked the performance; we created a lot of chances and played like we wanted, even at 4-1.
"We needed to make more fouls to stop the [flow of the] game. We made less than I wanted. We tried to manage the ball more and we hit the bar twice.
"We managed the game better than West Ham but didn't score."
