New signing John Gilbert scored to give Scott Davies a winning start to life as Aldershot manager, with hosts Boston beaten on the opening day of the National League season.
Gilbert, brought in this summer, sealed a 1-0 win for the north Hampshire side with a goal on 59 minutes.
Davies' starting line-up for the match in Lincolnshire comprised 11 debutants and the decisive moment came when a flowing team move ended with Marcus Dinanga unselfishly squaring to Gilbert, who made no mistake with his finish.
Lenell John-Lewis saw a 90th minute shot saved by Shots goalkeeper Nick Hayes, before a bad day for Boston was compounded in the third minute of stoppage time when Jake Rooney received a second yellow card for dissent.
