Forest Green Rovers opened their National League campaign with an impressive comeback 3-2 victory over Halifax.

Town led after just eight minutes when Will Flint bundled home a cross into the box from Ben Tollitt, and they clung on to that lead until half-time despite pressure from the home side which saw James Berry strike the post.

Rovers finally pulled level three minutes into the second half with on-loan defender Filozofe Mabete heading Kyle McAllister's deep cross into the top right corner, and they were in front after 59 minutes thanks to a curling effort from Sean Etaluku.

McAllister then added a third 11 minutes from time, making the most of a poor clearance to stab the ball home, before Zak Gilsenan's free-kick deep into stoppage time salvaged some pride for Halifax.
