Two goals in the first five minutes helped Norwich City cruise to a thumping first Championship victory of the season against winless Burnley, who ended the game with 10 men.

Mo Toure gave the home side the lead inside 90 seconds with a composed finish after Anel Ahmedhodzic's miscued clearance put him clean through on goal and Andre Brooks quickly made it 2-0 with a tidy strike from Anthony Musaba's low cross.

Toure smashed in his second of the game when the visitors failed to deal with a corner before Josh Laurent got the Clarets back in the game with an excellent whipped strike from 20 yards.

The home side extended their lead when Brooks got his second with a fantastic backheeled finish before Laurent was sent off for a second bookable offence late on.

Burnley, knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek by League One Bradford City, have taken one point from their first three Championship games after being relegated from the Premier League last season.‌

Since 1 November last year Burnley have won just one league game in 32 attempts, the fewest of any team ever-present in the top four tiers.

Norwich had lost their opening two league games to West Bromwich Albion and Millwall but had complete control of this match almost immediately.

Jose Cordoba, sent off in last week's loss at the Lions, played a ball down the inside left channel that Clarets debutant Ahmedhodzic should have cut out but he got his feet in a tangle and Australia international Toure nipped in behind and scored clinically.

Brooks, who joined from Sheffield United for £8m in the summer, got his first league goal for his new club and Burnley then fell three goals behind when former England international Kyle Walker failed to clear a corner and Toure hammered home the loose ball.

Laurent gave Nicky Hayen's men some hope just before the half-hour mark, but a comeback never looked on the cards and any hopes of avoiding defeat went when Brooks improvised a clever finish from Jack Stacey's low cross.

The away team's goalscorer was then sent off for a pull on Anis Slimane to compound their misery.

Burnley now face a tough home game against promotion favourites Middlesbrough on Wednesday, while Norwich face Stoke City, who have lost all three of their league games to date, on Tuesday.‌

Norwich City boss Philippe Clement told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"It's really important to give our fans entertaining football and good football and results of course.

"If you start the game in that way, on the front foot and scoring two goals really fast, it helps.

"I said before the game I had a feeling like before the home game against Coventry City last season where we got a good result against a good team, a strong team. It's another step forward.

"Andre is someone with a lot of potential, otherwise we wouldn't have made the efforts that the club made to get him in."

Burnley boss Nicky Hayen told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"It was a really disappointing afternoon and the way we started was not how we hoped or expected.

"I said in the dressing room that we can talk about tactics and energy but if we concede a goal like that this then it's already a really hard start.

"I experienced a game with two faces, one where we had a really bad start and one when we were 3-0 down that you saw good moments where we were finding space and creating opportunities and scored a goal.

"We're not clinical in both boxes and in the end that is the most important thing in football.

"You don't defend only with four defenders, everyone has to do their job."
