Watford withstood huge second half pressure from West Ham to maintain their unbeaten start to the Championship season and keep the Hammers winless.

The Hornets took the lead with a lovely solo effort from Amin Nabizada - his second goal of the new campaign.

West Ham were then gifted an equaliser following a mistake from defender Kevin Keben resulting in an own goal by Mattie Pollock.

The Hammers streamed forward in the second half with chances for Jarrod Bowen, the impressive Manor Solomon, Arne Engels and Joel Piroe, but they were unable to find a winner.

The draw leaves new Watford boss Alessio Dionisi with five points from his opening three league matches, whilst West Ham have two draws and a defeat.

Both sides shared an early chance with a Bowen effort for West Ham blocked in the box. Nabizada then saw a shot from the left just miss to the right.

That effort proved to merely act as a sighter as the hosts broke quickly with Omar Traore's cross from the right parried away by Hammers keeper Mads Hermansen.

The ball fell to Afghanistan forward Nabizada who cut in from the left and curled a shot into the top right-hand corner.

West Ham levelled soon after as Keben tried to dribble the ball along the touchline towards his own goal.

Taty Castellanos nipped in to poke the ball across the box and it went in off Pollock.

The Hammers had a chance to win it late on with Solomon through one-on-one, but Pollock made amends for the own goal by blocking the effort with an outstretched leg.

Watford's impressive start under new boss Dionisi continues, and they take that form to Swansea City on Tuesday.

Nuno Espirito Santo's West Ham face a tough challenge in their pursuit for an opening league win as they welcome fellow relegated Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, also on Tuesday.

Watford boss Alessio Dionisi told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"This match for us was very, very difficult but at the end we are happy for the result. My team played well, played together.

"In our line-up there are young boys. Normally, we have more experience. For us it is important, every positive result is good."

West Ham United boss Nuno Espirito Santo told BBC Radio London:

"Overall, we dominated the game, even thought we conceded first. We created a lot of situations in the second half, many, many situations, so overall I think we should get more [from the game].

[On how his team are approaching this season] "Realising that we are favourites and it is our goal… the message is simple, we have to go back to the Premier League, realising how hard it is.

"We don't get away from our responsibilities, we want to go back."
