Swansea dominated from start to finish as they maintained their unbeaten start to the Championship with a 3-0 win at Derby County.

Some supporters were still taking their seats when summer signing Joseph Opoku put Swansea in front, and Eom Ji-sung tapped in to double their lead just before the break.

There was also a debut for Canada international Stephen Eustaquio in the second half before Brazilian Ronald added a third goal in added time.

Derby transfer target Henrik Meister was one of those in attendance at Pride Park before a potential move to the Championship from Serie B side Pisa.

Swansea, fortuitously, got off to the perfect start when Opoku's effort deflected off two Derby defenders and past Jacob Widell Zetterstrom inside 90 seconds.

Opoku continued to cause problems for the Rams' defence, nearly scoring a second with an acrobatic volley before being forced off midway through the first half.

Without Carlton Morris, Derby struggled to create clear-cut chances and were two goals down when Eom pounced on Adam Idah's saved header to tap in from a yard.

John Eustace made attacking changes at the break, introducing Sammie Szmodics and Rhian Brewster, and while the Rams were much improved, they were still unable to test Lawrence Vigouroux.

Swansea looked like scoring a third, and were twice denied by Rams keeper Zetterstrom, before substitute Ronald drilled into the bottom corner to add the cherry on top of their three points.

Derby, who finished just short of the Championship play-offs last season, still await their first win of the 2026-27 campaign.

And after draws in their opening two fixtures, supporters will be disappointed by the manner of this defeat, which arrived without an effort on target.

Swansea goalkeeper Vigouroux was largely given a watching brief at Pride Park, even though Derby introduced Szmodics and Brewster at half-time.

The Swans fans will be getting excited about their prospects this season after making their best start to a Championship campaign - winning twice and drawing once - since the 2020/21 campaign.

Swansea reached the play-off final that season, losing 2-0 to Brentford, after a fourth-place finish, and ambitious head coach Vitor Matos will be striving for a similar finish this year.

And what will please fans even more is the spread of goals. Championship golden boot winner Zan Vipotnik scored 40% of their goals last season, but they have already had four different scorers in three league games this time around.

Derby County head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Derby:

"It's a disappointing afternoon, and I take full responsibility for the performance. I pick the team, I train the players, and it's probably been coming.

"We've been up and down over pre-season. We've struggled and are lacking a bit of confidence.

"I think we started both halves well. We conceded early after a good start, and because we are lacking confidence, I think it affected the group a little bit.

"To concede just before half-time is difficult to take. We started the second half well, and maybe if we scored it would have been different."

Swansea City head coach Vitor Matos told BBC Radio Wales:

I think we started the game really well. We scored early, and it gave us the tranquillity to stay in the game and be competitive.

"Then we had moments where Derby pushed us back, and we needed to stay compact and concentrated in the box.

"We coped with that, scored the second, and that gave us the comfort to control the game how we like to do it.

"In the second half, we expected a really strong start from Derby, which is what happened. After that period, we created chances. I'm really pleased."
