Scunthorpe will head into the National League play-offs on the back of a defeat after losing 1-0 at home to Eastleigh.

Harvey Saunders scored the only goal after 18 minutes, firing in on the turn from Inih Effiong's pass.

Ross Barrows and Danny Whitehall fired off target as Scunthorpe chased an equaliser.

The Iron made four changes at the break and Alfie Beestin, one of the players introduced, curled an effort which clipped the outside of a post.

Louis Jones made a fine double save to prevent Effiong from doubling Eastleigh's lead 15 minutes from time.

Scunthorpe, whose fifth place was already secure, will host Southend in the play-off quarter-finals.
