Carlisle warmed up for the National League play-offs by extending their unbeaten run to eight games with a 3-0 victory over relegated Brackley.

Mark Hughes' side had clinched third place and the semi-final spot that came with it, which allowed the former Wales boss to make six changes.

Two of those to come into the team scored first-half goals, with Luke Armstrong sweeping the hosts into a sixth-minute lead before Jack Ellis forced home the rebound after Ryan Galvin had hit the crossbar in the 31st minute.

Brackley, who last weekend ended a 14-match winless run that consigned them to an instant return to the sixth tier, went close when Ben Wodskou hit the inside of a post in the second half.

But Carlisle wrapped up their third straight win without conceding in stoppage time when Georgie Kelly scored from Chris Conn-Clarke's cross.
