Forest Green claimed a 1-0 win over high-flying National League debutants Hornchurch in the first meeting between the two clubs.

The visitors took the lead in the eighth minute as Sean Etaluku did well down the left wing before firing a cross into striker Ricardo Rees, whose effort took a deflection before going in.

Hornchurch almost levelled in the 87th minute as Forest Green goalkeeper Ethan Ross pulled off a superb save to keep out Sam Ling, while at the other end Arthur Nasta also produced a good stop.

But Forest Green held on for a win over a Hornchurch side who had gone into the game with four wins in five.
