  1. 'Thomas didn't want to be there'published at 22:21 BST

    Deadline day

I am led to believe that this was a transfer the player has pushed through himself, that he wanted.

Ryan Shawcross has basically confirmed that by saying the squad will have players who want to be there.

That's saying Sorba Thomas didn't want to be, so it's no surprise he wasn't involved tonight.

The bread and butter part of football is when players leave.

How does the team and the squad go about its business without the player who scored the most goals and had the most assists last season?

  2. Thomas to leave Stoke?published at 22:18 BST

    Deadline day

    Stoke City

Stoke City striker Sorba Thomas was not in the squad tonight as the Potters beat Norwich City 1-0 at the bet365 Stadium.

The 27-year-old Wales international has been heavily linked with a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City.

Thomas scored 10 goals in 45 Championship games for Stoke last season.

Let's take a closer look at that potential deal...

  3. DONE DEAL: Pompey sign Meghoma on loan from Brentfordpublished at 22:14 BST

    Deadline day

    Portsmouth

Porstmouth have signed Brentford defender Jayden Meghoma on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Scottish giants Rangers and made 44 appearances in all competitions.

Meghoma has only played four times for Brentford and also had a brief spell with Preston North End in 2024-25.

Burton Albion have signed their second player from Brighton & Hove Albion today.

After bringing in winger Caylan Vickers this morning on a permanent deal, the Brewers have signed striker Mark O'Mahony on a season-long loan.

O'Mahony spent the first half of last season on loan at Reading.

Notts County, meanwhile, have signed left-back Rosaire Longelo from Salford City for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Meadow Lane.

  5. 'We'll know after tonight'published at 22:06 BST

    Deadline day

    Stoke City

Stoke City first-team coach Ryan Shawcross, speaking to BBC Radio Stoke about Sorba Thomas and transfer speculation: "It's not ideal. After tonight, we'll know what the 25-man squad looks like.

"The most important thing is that, when that is announced in the coming days, it's got 25 players who want to be at the club."

  6. DONE DEAL: Millwall sign Stevenage goalkeeper Marschallpublished at 22:04 BST

    Deadline day

    Millwall

Millwall have completed the signing of goalkeeper Filip Marschall from Stevenage for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old joined the League One club from Aston Villa in July 2025 following multiple loan spells at Gateshead, MK Dons and Crewe.

Marschall has made 53 appearances for Stevenage in that time, keeping 19 clean sheets.

Lincoln City have signed right-back Daniel Oyegoke from Italian Serie B club Hellas Verona for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old former England youth international played for the Arsenal and Brentford academy teams and had loan spells with MK Dons and Bradford City before moving to Hearts in 2024.

Oyegoke joined Hellas Verona in January 2025 and made 22 appearances for the club.

He has signed a four-year contract with the Imps.

  8. More deals to come?published at 21:52 BST

    Deadline day

It is now full-time in all the EFL games taking place this evening.

    Follow all the reaction here:

With the matches now over, we can perhaps expect more news to come in from clubs about last-minute deals they've managed to get over the line, for better or worse...

  9. 'Reyes Cleary timing would be a shame'published at 21:48 BST

    Deadline day

    Rob Staton
    BBC Radio Sheffield

I went to have a look at who Ben Hamed Toure is. The bulk of the description was 'he was once forgotten by the team bus'.

What an opportunity now, at Barnsley, to add some different things to his Wikipedia entry by scoring loads of goals, winning promotions and games and making that a funny aside to some glory in England for the Reds.

It's pretty obvious what's going on with Reyes Cleary. You don't hand a transfer request in, as was reported, without trying to make something happen.

We've contacted the club and they've not denied it. I understand a Championship club seems to have been interested.

It's going to be an interesting few days because we've been here before with Barnsley, when there's nothing you can do to bring anybody else in.

It will be a shame if he goes and they don't have time to do anything else.

  10. 'Sorba who?'published at 21:42 BST

Not much commitment from the wealthy owners in the EFL.

Blackburn need a striker and a central defender - and quickly.

  11. 'Do something, Cardiff'published at 21:39 BST

    Get Involved

Come On, CARDIFF - either get the chequebook, dip into the loan market or see if there is somebody out there without a club. But just do something.

    Khufu5288, Mountain Ash

I have just read that Cardiff City are not bringing in any players today even though they need three. Brian Barry-Murphy has been misleading the supporters for the past few weeks - including last weekend - saying that these players were coming when he obviously knew they weren't.

  12. 'Swindon want Drinan to be talisman'published at 21:33 BST

    Deadline day

    Andrew Hawes
    BBC News, Wiltshire

New Swindon signing Antwoine Hackford is a pacy striker who came through the Sheffield United academy, went to Wimbledon last year and was also largely on the bench there.

He's not a traditional goalscorer, but perhaps someone who can come and stretch defences, run around and try to press and lead the closing down.

He's got about 70 games under his belt, but I think fewer than 20 of those are starts in his league career. So he's looking for somewhere to really get a solid, consistent starting starting place.

With four forwards, I'm not guaranteeing it, but he'll certainly be a useful addition and has some experience in a fairly young squad.

Aaron Drinan signing a new deal is quite unusual in the sense that, if I've got my maths right, he'll be turning 33 at the end of his contract, so he's pretty much committing the rest of his career to Swindon.

He only signed a new deal until 2028 in January, so it shows the value Swindon have put on him.

It would appear Swindon want him to be their talisman for the foreseeable future, to hopefully drag them from the bottom end of the division and back up the league.

  13. Postpublished at 21:31 BST

Let's bring you some reaction to the news from earlier that Swindon Town striker Aaron Drinan, who has scored 30 goals in 99 league appearances since joining the Robins, has signed a new deal to stay at the League Two club until 2030...

  14. Morato unveiled as new West Ham playerpublished at 21:26 BST

    Deadline day

Brazilian defender Morato was unveiled as a new West Ham player in front of fans at the London Stadium tonight.

The 25-year-old has completed a deadline day loan move from Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers are beating fellow relegated club Wolves 4-2 at the moment.

  15. Baggies' business could be finishedpublished at 21:19 BST

    Deadline day

With under two hours to go, it is highly unlikely that West Bromwich Albion will sign a striker on deadline day.

The Baggies looked at Cameron Archer earlier in the transfer window but were unwilling to compromise on their new wage policy, which has helped significantly reduce the salary bill in recent seasons.

I understand that, for the sake of making a signing, they do not want to alter the strategy that has built a younger, hungrier squad, and the club are satisfied with the 10 signings they have made this summer.

  16. Midfielder Lee departs Wrexhampublished at 21:15 BST

    Deadline day

    Wrexham

Wrexham have terminated the contract of midfielder Elliot Lee by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old joined the Red Dragons from Luton Town in the summer of 2022 and played a starring role in the club's rapid rise up the football pyramid, winning three promotions during his Wrexham career.

Manager Phil Parkinson said: "I'd like to thank Elliot for what he has done for this football club.

"He has been a great player for us here at Wrexham and has made a significant contribution to the club's rise through the divisions.

"He is at the stage now where he is eager to go and play and get some minutes, and whoever gets him will get a player who still has a lot to offer."

  17. Ins and outs at Swansea?published at 21:10 BST

    Deadline day

    Swansea City

Swansea City are enjoying a strong start to the Championship season but they have also been busy on deadline day.

The Swans are still in the market for a centre-back and have made Strasbourg's Soumaila Coulibaly their top target.

There are also potential outgoings with Zeidane Inoussa poised to join Portsmouth on loan for the remainder of the season, while Ronald could depart for Millwall.

Not to mention the noise around Zan Vipotnik's future which won't go away until the window closes.

  18. Will Boro complete winger deals?published at 21:06 BST

    Deadline day

    Middlesbrough

Morgan Whittaker in action for Middlesbrough, in their red home shirtImage source, Shutterstock

Middlesbrough have been working on a deal to sign Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry on loan from Brighton, while Morgan Whittaker could be set to leave for MLS side Colorado Rapids.

Cozier Duberry, 21, scored 10 goals in 41 games in all competitions last season for Bolton Wanderers.

Whittaker, 25, has scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 66 games for Boro since arriving from Plymouth in January 2025.

To the Saints fan (17:00): Azaz and Whittaker often went ‘missing’ in tough Middlesbrough games. I would be more worried about your coach’s future at the moment.
