  18. Sorba Thomas 'lured by Premier League'published at 22:24 BST

    Deadline day

    Kevin Russell
Former Stoke forward on BBC Radio Stoke

It's a strange one. I had him at Huddersfield [as first-team coach in 2025] and these scenarios went on a little bit there as well.

He got a little bit dejected there and some of his performances weren't great once he wanted to go.

It's difficult now, with the way the modern game's gone. It's not gone the right way, for me.

Players dictate now to the manager what they're going to do. In the times I played, you wouldn't dare do something like that.

He had a great season last season with a lot of goals and assists. He's 27 and it's probably his only chance to play in the Premier League.

I'd say Stoke's a bigger club than Hull in size and stature. It's just the lure of the Premier League. I'm not surprised.

  19. 'Thomas didn't want to be there'published at 22:21 BST

    Deadline day

    Matt Sandoz
Stoke City commentator, BBC Radio Stoke

I am led to believe that this was a transfer the player has pushed through himself, that he wanted.

Ryan Shawcross has basically confirmed that by saying the squad will have players who want to be there.

That's saying Sorba Thomas didn't want to be, so it's no surprise he wasn't involved tonight.

The bread and butter part of football is when players leave.

How does the team and the squad go about its business without the player who scored the most goals and had the most assists last season?

  20. Thomas to leave Stoke?published at 22:18 BST

    Deadline day

    Stoke City

Stoke City striker Sorba Thomas was not in the squad tonight as the Potters beat Norwich City 1-0 at the bet365 Stadium.

The 27-year-old Wales international has been heavily linked with a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City.

Thomas scored 10 goals in 45 Championship games for Stoke last season.

Let's take a closer look at that potential deal...
