Now that match at the end was worth just half a point to the scoreboard, but it could just mean so much more to both teams and their fortunes this weekend.

Carlota Ciganda somehow getting out of jail means Europe end the day level with the USA, but in the team rooms it won't feel like that as Anna Nordqvist's squad will be bouncing while Angela Stanford's visitors will feel deflated.

It's a blow in confidence for Nelly Korda, and a huge boost for young rookie Julia Lopez Ramirez who could go on to have a big say in this Solheim Cup.

Plus, Europe were well ahead in that session earlier and the USA would have taken 2-2 from it, but having got into that position it's now the Stars and Stripes who will feel they let it slip and the hosts will feel like they're the ones who made the big comeback.

Our old friend momentum could well have changed teams with that one final putt of the day.

What has just happened! Carlota Ciganda drains her putt under the utmost pressure and Europe somehow, from nowhere, pinch a half in this last match.

Ciganda celebrates like she's just won the Solheim Cup again but that just shows how big that half could be, and just how unlikely it was when the Spanish pair were hacking it up on the last - never in the hole until that final putt.

Ha - what did I tell you! Lauren Coughlin leaves it short. How in the world has she left that short?

Carlota Ciganda has an outside chance now to steal a half. And it would be a steal.

Just short from Nelly Korda, but she's given Lauren Coughlin a nice read, she's got the four in their pockets so Coughlin can give this a run.

Carlota Ciganda just about has a shot, but it's a miracle she needs coming over the ditch and trying to stop it anywhere near the hole.

She does a decent job, finishing up just inside the two American golf balls but she'll have to hole it - if she's given the chance of course.

Nelly Korda and Lauren Caughlin will both have putts to win the match now.

This is a difficult par four to finish this...

Carlota Ciganda is going to have 12 yards to work with when it pitches on the front of the green.

Disaster! Julia Lopez Ramirez is in the bunker but instead of just getting it out and trying to then wedge it close with her third she goes for broke and catches the front lip.

The young Spaniard has to run that one back and now she's short of the green after three while Carlota Ciganda is off the reservation out right.

It should be America's hole now and Nelly Korda makes no mistake finding the green as does Lauren Coughlin almost side-by-side with her partner and with two chances to pinch this match.

Carlota Ciganda has a blind shot in from 180 yards over a big hill - mind you all shots on 18 now are blind ones with the low setting sun in their faces.

She picks her line then fires away, but catches it fat and blocked out to the right and she's in a horrible position - miles right of the green with the creek to hit over for what will be her third shot.

Woad: "It was a very good match. We had the lead for the most of it, but they kept on fighting back.

"Overall, played great, but the putt on the last kind of described the back nine I would say."

Hull: "Feel tired, and I can't wait to go to bed, but apart from that I feel good.

"I like matches like that. They're really interesting. Lottie played great, and she made a great eagle on the 10th hole. It was a really good match."

We talked at the start of this Solheim Cup about players coming in with a lack of form. We have got only three players in the top 10 playing. Once the golf starts, it doesn't matter what your golf ranking is.

The American pair have been far more consistent off the tee all match long, and they put themselves firmly in the driving seat as both Nelly Korda and Lauren Coughlin find the fairway.

They'll have two clear shots into the 18th green while Europe are blocked out to the right and will struggle to even have a shot at the dancefloor. USA are big favourites now to close out this match.

Julia Lopez Ramirez finds the bunker down the right, so she can't get home in two more than likely. Carlota Ciganda then lines up her drive into the setting sun and swipes right across it, carving it off to the right and even further right than her partner.

Door wide open for the USA.

Right then, here we go, the final hole in the final match of the day - the match is all square and the Solheim Cup is all square at 3½-3½.

It literally could not be closer. Vital hole coming up - two good swings to be the hero. Who are you backing?

Carlota Ciganda gives it a really good roll but not enough break and it slides by the side of the hole.

The USA give Europe their short putts but Ciganda makes Lauren Coughlin tap it in for the half! Niggly, I like that, that's exactly what Ian Poulter would've done.

Down the last we go!

Three players take their birdie putts, none of them can land, it's Carlota Ciganda to go last, from a good 15 feet away. She couldn't, could she?

A lot of the stands are empty now and there's probably more players, support staff and family inside the ropes following this match than there are fans watching it!

These can be vital matches though, darkness is creeping in, it's the last match out there, all square, this could be a big point swing either way if one team can pinch it.

And all your team-mates have turned up to watch. No pressure then.

They've got the flag surrounded but not that closely - all four are on the dancefloor but only Nelly Korda is in what you'd call makeable distance.

So slight advantage USA but it's all down to the putters, time for someone to pull out something special with the flat stick.
