Rose Zhang is first to putt. She gives the ball a good thwack and it races across the green, zipping three, maybe four feet beyond the hole.

Leona Maguire to win the hole and guarantee a half point for Europe. Oof. A rare poor putt. No pace and her effort pulls up short.

Neither of these are being conceded. None of that 'I'll give you yours if you give me mine' type chat we have in our friendly games!

Jennifer Kupcho is a smidge closer than the European ball and has a perfect view of the green and hole.

But the American doesn't get all of that. "Go" shouts a hopeful US voice but the ball thuds into the green about 40 feet shy of its intended target.

Esther Henseleit is having a long conversation with her caddie before hitting this second shot. They agree a strategy and from about 170 yards she hits another belter into the heart of the green.

Team Europe's Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud, speaking after their foursomes victory...

Rhodes: "Anna [Nordqvist] has been telling us the first few holes to get up, and then it is a high percentage to win the match. Luckily, she [Nadaud] was rolling them at the start. A great day overall."I was just trying to stay focused and not think ahead. I have thought ahead in other moments and it hasn't worked out. I just knew either way we were going to win the match. Just stay calm and putt the ball on the line."

Nadaud: "After yesterday's win we both felt very comfortable. We didn't expect to play this morning foursomes. A great surprise.

"We played very sensible, loads of fairways and greens. It was a pretty good morning. We knew quite late [about their call-up to the Europe team]. We are good friends outside the course. We knew we might play together at some point!"

The 17th is playing 403 yards this morning.

Leona Maguire has the honour and leaks her drive a little right, but stays on the fairway. Esther Henseleit might have a bit of a blind shot with trees between her and the green.

Rose Zhang powers her effort down the middle.

Rose Zhang judges her putt to almost perfection. The pace is excellent, the line a foot off. Par for the Americans.

Big chance for Leona Maguire to get this match back on an even keel.

The Irishwoman is studying this from every angle. She knows. It's more five feet than four. It doesn't matter. Another big fist pump. Another huge putt from Maguire.

Jennifer Kupcho is out with a wedge on the 16th, clipping the ball onto the green. She definitely doesn't want to be short with the water waiting, but then she definitely didn't want to be that long either.

Esther Henseleit is coming from almost behind a stand, about 4 yards from the hole and aiming way right of the flag. "Go, go, go" urges her caddie as the ball lands in the perfect spot and feeds down towards the hole.

What a wonderful pairing rookies Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud have prvoed to be, as they complete a brilliant 4&3 victory over Andrea Lee and American rookie Auston Kim.

The young duo led from the very first hole and stayed in front all the way, allowing the USA to win just two holes all match as in the end it was a bit of a cruise to a blue point.

Team USA's Lauren Coughlin and Alison Lee, speaking after their foursomes victory...

Coughlin: "Any time you get a point, it is a good day. Just looking forward to the rest of the week.

"This is the best week we play every two years, so it has been electric out here. It is super loud. Wouldn't mind them quietening down a little bit, but it has been awesome."

Lee: "To be fair including yesterday I feel we hit it both so solid. Today, specifically, all I had to do was sit back and watch the Lauren show. So it was just a lot of fun."

On to the 16th in what is turning into this morning's pivotal match.

Europe miss a great chance to go four up with four to play but the putt just misses the target and America stay in the fight.

The tricky 15th over water is next up and anything can happen there - just ask Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit!

Well, it was nice until it lasted for Team Europe, BUT we're back tied on the overall score.

On the 15th and Leona Maguire is errant with her tee shot, the ball finding a watery grave.

But Esther Henseleit is not giving this up. A third of the ball is showing. The shoes and socks are off. The waterproof leggings are going on - white shorts and playing out of muddy water do not mix.

A swish, a splash and the ball pops up. But it hits the bank she's half standing on with her left leg - her right foot is submerged - and bounces back into the water.

Hole conceded. Two holes in a row for the US, who lead this topsy-turvy match.

We're on the 13th green and this match is hurtling towards its end.

Charley Hull has a six-footer to keep it alive. And just like so many holes today, it's a missed putt and that is game over.

Feels like the Europeans have been put out of their misery. Hull and Lottie Woad didn't have the best of days but the American pair of Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin were on their games.

Team Europe's Maja Stark and Linn Grant, speaking after their foursomes victory...

Stark: "I mean it is the best feeling ever. Felt like we put up some decent golf both today and yesterday. Kind of hard to beat when you're not making any bogeys.

"I think we're just going to keep going and feeling like we're playing great golf. Keeping feeling we're hitting good shots and hitting good putts."

Grant: "Obviously, we had a tough match going into today and we knew that. We had a lot of fun. It is a lot of fun. We both had the same idea about this week. Take it in and get the whole experience."

After the fight to get back in this match, the Europeans are struggling a bit on hole 14.

Esther Henseleit drove the ball into a bunker, Leona Maguire hacked out but into the clumpy heather.

Henseleit smashes their third through the back of the green.

The Americans are not in the best of shapes either though.

There it is! Maja Stark rolls in yet another fine putt to close out this match in style - and what a win it is as the Swedish duo hand a first ever loss to Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz.

The previously unbeatable American foursomes duo finally taste defeat after five straight wins, and in truth they were largely dominated by Stark and Linn Grant who played some stunning golf yet again.

They'll surely be heading out this afternoon as well.

And the European body language says it all as they trudge of the 12th green.

Charley Hull and Lottie Woad looked in great shape for a win but Alison Lee rolled in a 15-footer for par and Woad missed the birdie try from six feet. Hole halved. It's the hope that kills you.
